The first review was clearly written by the principal. My child no longer attends this school and that is the best decision we could have made. The teachers were okay, but the school was not ran well. The principal will lie to get you to enroll, but the only thing she cares about is getting as many students as possible by any means. The school got very poor scores on the FCAT, she says its not her fault. They had underage kids again not her fault. With all the A rated public schools in the local area, you have much better "choice" then this school.

Great school! So much better than a regular public school, especially if your child tends to be advanced. The academics, the extra curricular activities, the small school feel are all wonderful. My child loves it there. I'm not sure where the reviewer from 11/29 got their facts as far as the FCAT goes. You can view the school, county and state results on the State of Florida's education website. They actually did pretty good considering it was their first year with only a small number of kids tested in each grade, and also understanding how the state calculates FCAT scores (not just a simple score by student). They do give a lot of homework and seem to study advanced concepts at each grade level. Parents are required to volunteer and get involved and you really do need a computer and internet access at home since a lot of the learning is technology based.

Excellent curriculum and excellent teachers and staff. The school has weekly assemblies in the gym where children are recognized for their accomplishments and are able to share what they've learned via different types of presentations, and where the principal shares information on the curriculum, school programs, and status updates of what's going on administratively with the school - parents are encouraged to attend and be involved at this school - in fact it's a requirement that parents are involved with the school to remain in good standing. Because this a charter school, the staff is able to be more creative and is not as confined by all of the bureaucracy of a traditional public school - they are also accountable for their budget which I feel has made them more efficient than their traditional public school counterparts. No half days at this school, but instead the school day is longer, with the addition of an elective, after school type class as part of the daily schedule. And of course there's the the technology and other creative teaching methods that pushes this school over the top as being an excellent school. This is a choice based public school with high expectations and standards, so they do require a lot more than a traditional public school and as such it may not be for everyone.
